We do more than just catch critters! Critter Catchers is an after-school enrichment program.
This program series will run in the Spring (April through June from 3:30-6 p.m.) and Fall (September through November 3:30-6 p.m.) meeting twice per week on either Mondays/Wednesday from 3:30pm-6:00pm. Enrollment is for participants who are of kindergarten age up to sixth grade. We give children the opportunity to come into themselves and connect with nature and each other through exploration and play outdoors.
Remember when you were a child and after school play outdoors was your sacred time to unwind from the whims of a school day? Where you could relax and exercise your creativity, where you were continually inspired by nature and the discoveries that you made? Maybe you’d create forts, climb trees, or find patches of earth to run around on and investigate. You’d play hard and then come home happy. Unfortunately, children today do not have as many direct experiences with nature as we once did, and this disconnection from nature can have ill effects on both the body and mind. We want to bring that spirit of childhood back. We invite your children to come and engage in meaningful ways with the natural world, even in small doses, this has powerful effects
Our outdoor exploration consists of moving between spaces on the farm and in the woods; caring for animals, hiking on trails, building forts, & making observations of our environment. We will let our curiosity lead the way as we visit different spaces of the farm, including the apple tree, animal pen, barn, gnome park, mud kitchen, forest playground, and surrounding trail systems.
Children will enjoy lots of free play and snack (from home) while they attend this program!
